Fireguard is used in carpentry and interior fit-out in the same way as standard MDF. Fireguard is a specialty medium density fibreboard available in two colours (Standard Red (12, 16 and 18mm thickness) and Black (16 and 18mm thickness)) and a standard 2400mm X 1200mm sheet size. Fireguard is also manufactured to achieve a Group 1 fire retardant rating in accordance with AS/NZS 3837. Identifying features description The product does not have a unique identifying feature; however, Laminex is aware that only one shipment is affected and is able to contact all affected customers.
Why it was recalled
The product was designed to achieve the “Group 1” rating in accordance with AS/NZS 3837. Laminex has identified one shipment of product that failed to meet the products specifications. The affected product does not offer the expected fire resistance associated with product that achieves a “Group 1” rating.
Hazard
In the case of a fire the affected product may not offer the expected level of fire resistance, posing a potential fire hazard and a risk of further property damage.
