These hubs can be found on all Zipp wheels made from Oct-2008 to May-2010 date of manufacture. Identifying features description First generation Zipp 88 hubs have a “Z” logo on the retaining rings. No other versions have logos on the retaining rings. The hub shell is silver in colour. The retaining rings are gray in the standard option and gray, red, blue, pink, or gold in the ZedTech options. The outside diameter of the two clinch nuts is approximately 1.14 inches. (29mm)
Why it was recalled
First generation 88 hub retaining rings may fail and this can result in ejection of all the wheel's spokes and subsequent wheel failure.
Hazard
If the defect occurs, the rider may lose control of the bicycle potentially resulting in a serious fall injury.
