AUSTRALIAN RECALL ROUND-UP16–22 April 2018.
8 product recalls were published during this week. Review the summaries below, then follow the official source before taking action.
General product safetyIn affected vehicles the wiring loom may touch the clutch pipe. In a worst case scenario the clutch pipe may rub through the wiring loom insulation creating a short circuit that may cause the engine to stall and not restart.
General product safetyTakata airbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of heat and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.
Power supply and storageThe affected products were received fitted with a 240V C13/C14 monitor style plug and socket for charging the 12V internal batteries.
General product safetyAirbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.
Power supply and storageThe inverter can exceed voltage limits, and may not switch off when required. Also, the inverter is not labelled to warn of a hot surface.
Fireplaces and burnersThe products fail various requirements of the Consumer Goods (Decorative Alcohol Fuelled Devices) Safety Standard 2017. Defects include failure to: • be a permanent fixture or have a dry weight of at least 8 kilograms and a footprint of at least 900 square centimetres; • meet the stability test set out in the European standard; • come with a fuel container with a flame arrester or an automatic fuel pump system; and • have the prescribed warning label.
Vehicle toysThe toy car's wheels and axles may detach.
