N16 Pulsar, Y61 Patrol, D22 Navara, J31 Maxima & T30 X-Trail

Published 10 June 2015

Product

Nissan N16 Pulsar, D22 Navara, Y61 Patrol, T30 X-Trail, J31 Maxima The recall campaign affects vehicles built between April and December 2003 and sold in Australia. This is an amendment to the affected vehicles in the previous recall campaign that was launched globally in 2013 & 2014.

Why it was recalled

Takata airbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of heat and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.

Hazard

In the event of an airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could propel out through the airbag cushion towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or fatality.
