This recall expands PRA2016/15425 and is extended by PRA2018/16536. IS 250 (Model GSE20) 565 vehicle affected. IS 250C (Model GSE20) 260 vehicles affected. IS 350 (Model GSE21) 1,231 vehicles affected. IS F (Model USE20) 100 vehicles affected. LFA (Model LFA10) 10 vehicles affected.
Why it was recalled
Takata airbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of heat and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.
Hazard
In the event of an airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could propel out through the airbag cushion towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or fatality.
