Published 27 July 2012

Product

Flashing Plastic / Rubber Spiky Yo Yo Ball - Children's flashing, spiky, squeezable, stretchable, rubber ball toy attached to elasticised rubber cord. Identifying features description Flashing Plastic / Rubber Spiky Yo Yo Ball.

Why it was recalled

These types of products are banned under Consumer Protection Notice 20 of 2011 because the cord provides a yo-yo effect and can stretch to over the safe limit of 500mm in length.

Hazard

The cord could wind around a child’s neck, especially if swung around the head. The highly elastic and ‘sticky’ nature of the cord can constrict breathing if wound tightly around a child’s neck and cause choking.
